Regarding Locarno Agreement Establishing an International Classification of Industrial Designs (Locarno Agreement)
Within the framework of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property’s operational strategy, the Authority is currently studying the extent of Saudi Arabia’s accession to a number of international intellectual property conventions.
Since the Locarno Agreement Establishing an International Classification of Industrial Designs (Locarno Agreement) is one of those conventions, where the competent offices of the Contracting States must indicate in official documents reflecting the deposit or registration of industrial designs the numbers of the classes and subclasses of the Classification to which the goods incorporating the designs belong. This must also be done in any publication the offices issue in respect of the deposit or registration of industrial designs.
The Locarno Classification comprises:
- A list of classes and subclasses;
- An alphabetical list of goods which constitute industrial designs, with an indication of the classes and subclasses into which they fall;
- Explanatory notes.
The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property invites the esteemed public to express their opinion on the Locarno Agreement and submit the views or written comments in this regard before the end of Saturday 23/3/1440 H (01/12/2018), by sending them to the Authority’s mail email@example.com including the name of the person or organization providing the visuals.
