Regarding Vienna Agreement Establishing an International Classification of the Figurative Elements of Marks (Vienna Agreement).
Within the framework of the operational strategy of Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, SAIP is currently studying the appropriateness of accession of Saudi Arabia to a number of international intellectual property treaties.
These international treaties are linked with the strategic objectives of Vision 2030 of Saudi Arabia especially to facilitate business practice, to enhance and support innovation and entrepreneurship, to improve the quality of services provided for citizens, to fully support major national companies by promoting its international pioneering and to transfer promising local companies into leading companies regionally and globally.
Vienna Agreement is one of these treaties. It is an agreement that establishes a classification for marks that consist of, or contain, figurative elements (the Vienna Classification). The competent offices of Contracting States must indicate in official documents and publications relating to registrations and renewals of marks the numbers of the categories, divisions and sections of the Classification to which the figurative elements of those marks belong.
