The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property meets with the Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator of USA and his accompanying delegation.
The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property held a workshop in Riyadh with the Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator of USA, Vishal Amin and his accompanying delegation. In addition to the officials of the US Patent and Trademark Office and in the presence of a number of relevant government agencies including Ministry of Justice, Public Security, General Commission for Audiovisual Media, Ministry of Media, Public Prosecution and the Ministry of Commerce with the enforcement team of intellectual property rights in the Kingdom.
The workshop discussed the US experience in building respect for intellectual property. This comes to enhance cooperation and development in the fields of intellectual property in the Kingdom and exchange of experiences between US and Saudi Arabia.
It is worth noting that the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the US Patent and Trademark Office on mutual cooperation in the fields of intellectual property rights and the exchange of experiences in accordance with best practices that facilitate processing, examination and registration of patent applications, industrial designs and trademarks on the sidelines of the 58th General Assembly of Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva.
The memorandum of understanding aims to establish a general framework for cooperation activities in the field of intellectual property between the two parties, in accordance with the applicable laws of the two countries, on the basis of equality and mutual benefit between them, and to exchange visits between specialists to discuss the technical and legal aspects related to the development and improvement of work in the areas related to the acquisition, use, protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights in accordance with the responsibilities of participants in this field.
