The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property and the United States Patent and Trademark Office signed a memorandum of understanding on joint cooperation in the fields of intellectual property rights and exchange of experiences in accordance with best practices that facilitate the processing, examination and registration of applications for patents, industrial designs and trademarks on the sidelines of the 58th General Assembly of Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva.
The MoU was signed by the Executive Chairman of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property , Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Suwailem, and by the Undersecretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and the Director of the Patent and Trademark Office of the United States of America, Andrei Lancu, to deepen the friendship between the two countries and enhance cooperation in the field of intellectual property.
The Memorandum of Understanding aims to establish a general framework for cooperation activities in the field of intellectual property between the two parties in accordance with the laws in force in both countries on the basis of equality and mutual benefit between them and exchange visits between specialists to discuss the technical and legal aspects related to the development and improvement of work related to the acquisition and use of intellectual property rights protection and enforcement in accordance with the responsibilities of participants in this area.
The Memorandum of Understanding also aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of mutual interest. It is worth mentioning that the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property has started implementing its strategy with local and international partnerships that guarantee quality and employ technology.
