What is an invention?

An invention is a new solution to a technical problem that has not been publicly disclosed before. It can be a product, process, or improvement to an existing solution.

A patent is an exclusive right granted by SAIP that gives the inventor the legal authority to prevent others from making, using, or selling the invention without permission for a limited period (typically 20 years from the filing date).

Conditions for obtaining a patent

Novelty: The invention must be new and not publicly disclosed anywhere in the world before the filing date.

Inventive Step: The invention must not be obvious to someone skilled in the relevant technical field.

Industrial Applicability: The invention must be capable of being made or used in some kind of industry.
